Integrating Planning & Execution for Improved Throughput Margins and Profits in your Retail Environment

In the retail industry, matching the supply chain execution with the planning process which occurs months in advanced can be complex: With supply chain lead times lengthening and product life cycles shortening, a company needs relevant, meaningful information about merchandising, assortment planning, replenishment, pricing, inventory, sourcing and logistics. Hear from IKEA how they have integrated their demand planning processes with their supply chain execution to reduce the volatility of actual orders to planned orders and improved store in stock positions.

Come and discover the benefits you can reap as a retailer by integrating your planning and execution processes.

Visual Merchandising – Increased communication and faster decision-making with Planograms

In today's competitive environment, retailers face a myriad of challenges including stiffer competition from mass-merchandise retailers, increased customer demand for specialty products and the ever-present issues around inventory seasonality. According to a 2006 AMR report, retailers need to better use demand insight to adjust store assortments that reflect local market needs and customer buying patterns. Originally developed to help supermarkets improve sales, space and category management has evolved to a "must have" for all retailers; forward-looking companies that embrace advanced solutions can rise above competitors, grow market-share and improve customer satisfaction levels. Please come and join us to hear how Virgin Stores changed the role of each buyer to let them build, exchange and distribute planograms with the supply chain and the stores.

A1.3
Driving Better Customer Service through Store Workforce Optimisation

Retailers of all sizes are tasked with navigating the inherent complexities of workforce management and striking a balance between reducing store operating budgets and a growing demand for a customer-centric shopping experience. Successful retailers are making workforce management a top corporate priority and eliminating their reliance on outdated, manual procedures that are disconnected from their store planning processes.

Some of the key opportunities are:

  1. Optimising the talent pool
  2. Spending less time scheduling and more time managing and selling
  3. Match staff to real demand
  4. Improve customer-centricity
  5. Deliver tangible ROI

Retailers that embrace and implement advanced workforce management solutions clearly see the results with elevated productivity, reduced labour costs, improved sales, and increased consumer and associate satisfaction. As economic pressures continue to rise, retailers that adopt automated workforce management solutions with intelligent forecasting capabilities will be poised to capture market-share during difficult economic conditions and lead the charge when conditions improve.

B1.1
Supply Chain Planning & Optimisation

To Achieve Excellence in Supply Chain Planning, You Must Start with a Firm Understanding of Consumer Driven Demand
In order to produce highly optimised distribution, logistical, and production plans you must start with an accurate view of demand – especially in today's volatile economy. Driving forecasts from limited and aggregate views of demand that are far removed from the true consumer typically results in bloated inventories, excessive transportation spends, and poor service to customers. In a quest to deliver leaner and more competitive supply chains, many companies are focusing on developing highly accurate demand plans that are collaboratively driven from a view of consumer sales.

Come to this session to learn what companies are doing to improve their planning processes by leveraging a detailed view of demand across channels and by collaborating closely with large customers. Through a better understanding of the demand, companies are able to drive more accurate and optimal plans which adhere to the complexities of the modern supply chain.

Don't miss this session where you will learn how to raise the competitiveness of your consumer driven supply chain

B1.2
Efficient and Effective Pricing & Promotions Management

The economic downturn presents strategic challenges for the majority of retailers and manufacturers globally. The skeptical and worrisome consumer have made changes to their buying preferences and rituals, and are now looking for even better value than before. Channel or banner loyalty is only as good as 'what have you done for me lately'. Given these challenges, retailers and manufacturers must find new ways to attract and persuade people to open their wallets and retain them. In this session, JDA will review several proven solutions that will help retailers and manufacturers create effective pricing and promotional strategies to stimulate the consumer to make purchases and keep them coming back for more. Come to this session to learn how leaders such as Limited Brands, Charlotte Russe and Meijer are winning at the shelf by attracting and retaining their targeted consumers. They will not only survive the current economy but also win and be prepared for the upturn.

B1.3
Delivering Consumer-Centric Assortments

The pressure is on. Constantly expanding product choices, multiple selling channels and escalating consumer expectations are challenges many retailers and their suppliers face in building profitable, market specific product assortments. In today's category management environment, the commonly used hierarchical and territorial buying strategies sometimes aren't enough when it comes to offering consumers the optimal combination of product selections. Learn how supply chain planning disciplines have become the key to ensuring that retailers and their suppliers are equipped to deliver market specific products while gaining efficiencies in inventory management. In this session, PEP, largest single brand retailer in Southern Africa, will illustrate how they are leveraging time phased demand planning at style, size, and color levels to increase sales and improve service levels throughout their chain.

C1.2
Strategically Manage Your Inventories and Free-up a Significant Amount of Working Capital

Nowadays, business imperative for supply chain managers is to look for ways to free-up working capital as a way to protect against market volatility while maintaining ability to fund new products and innovation strategies. In order to accomplish this without negatively impacting service level (and in fact finding opportunities to improve it), supply chain must rationalise how working capital is invested in inventory, evaluate the relevance of the existing inventory policies to the current market conditions, and establish new inventory policies that will free-up anywhere between 5-15% inventory into free cash flow for the business. All this can be done in less than 6 months, making it one of the most effective way to monetise from the supply chain. Companies are adopting this methodology from food and beverage to automotive, we will show you how. In this session, we will showcase the Real Results Award for Best in ROI that Heinz North America received at the JDA FOCUS Conference in 2009.

C1.3
Mastering the Management of Your Demand - Best Practices and Innovations

The shifting economic and consumer landscape has made it a strategic imperative for companies to improve their demand management practices. To create competitive advantage, demand management functions must create more accurate demand plans across a higher volume of items with fewer planning resources. If companies are to succeed with this new mandate, they must optimise their current planning processes and employ technologies to make sure their finite resources are efficiently utilised.

Fred Baumann, Vice President Industry Strategy, JDA Software will share current best practice approaches for demand management and new innovations companies are leveraging to create more accurate demand forecasts with constrained planner resources. Insights from a successful deployment of best practice demand management will be shared from Olivier Chasseloup, Supply Chain Logistics & IT Solutions Europe Director, Keystone Foods Europe.

Keystone Foods is a global manufacturer of food products and a custom distributor to the food industry to leaders such as McDonalds. Keystone Foods has optimised their business processes and technology to support a growing business of significant scale and has leveraged their supply chain as a key source of value creation. Keystone Foods has a customer base of approximately 30,000 restaurants with an annual production of more than 1.6 billion pounds of poultry products and 388 million pounds of beef products. Keystone Foods will share how an optimised mix of people, process and technology has played a role in their success.

Collaborative technologies are of greatest value when they provide insight rather than hindsight. The case for widespread Collaboration as an enabler of business improvement on both sides of the commercial divide is gaining acceptance by the larger and more powerful players in the sector. This new recognition is a driver for organisational change, redefining boundaries of internal and external responsibility in both manufacturer and retailer.

With the benefits of collaborative practice proven and doubts about sustainability receding, Supply Chain analysts are seeking to use technology to gain greater customer insight and supply chain responsiveness.

In this session we demonstrate how technology provides visibility and supports advanced analytics to enable the synchronisation of supply and demand and highlight the potential benefits that arise from deploying collaborative technology to address untapped opportunity in areas such as effective promotions management, new product introduction and On-shelf availability.

Drive Your Business and Solve the Supply Chain Complexity with JDA IPO & JDA Strategy
In the traditional planning systems approach, network and manufacturing structure (distribution sourcing, manufacturing capabilities, etc.) is considered as a static information coming from external systems or manually defined. In the same way, safety stock norms are very often a given data taken as an input for all replenishment calculations. In both cases, inputs are not challenged or updated on a regular basis. How can I take into account the latest supply chain constraints? How do I make sure the current network design and the current level of safety stock are in line with the strategic goals of the company? Minimising Transportation Costs with JDA Demand Planning, Strategy and Master Planning Applications
CHEP's business is pallet and container pooling, which involves the rental of pallets to manufacturers and producers for the shipment of their products on/in CHEP pallets/containers across the supply chain. The company own over 250 million pallets and containers worldwide and operates more than 190 service centres across Europe, from where pallets and containers are issued to its customers. The equipment is also recovered back to these services centres where it is inspected and repaired if required, before being made available for its customers once again.

Come and hear how, with the support of JDA applications, CHEP manages its inventory in the service centres, with pallets and containers potentially being issued from one service centre and recovered to another – by creating an accurate weekly forecast, identifying the most effective transportation solution to re-balance inventory, and executing the most optimal plan on a daily basis.
