"The implementation of the JDA solution has also taken [James Hardie's] carrier relationships to a whole new level. By allowing the system to ensure that the lowest cost, best-performing carriers always have first right of refusal, the company has been able to maximize freight savings and service. Additionally, the transportation planners are able to shift time that would have previously been spent manually planning the loads to performing more proactive carrier management activities and building stronger logistics infrastructure to support the growing business."

Key Capabilities of JDA® Shipment Execution:

  • Flexible, web-native collaboration and execution
  • Global pipeline visibility
  • Real-time event management and analysis

The dynamic nature of global transportation and logistics is placing an even greater emphasis on driving inefficiencies out of the Customer-Driven Value Chain. Given the current capacity-constrained operating environment, carrier communication and relationship management is probably one of the most important components in overall Transportation Management activities. A critical component in creating successful carrier management programs is to devise programs that make it easier and more efficient for your carriers to do business with you. Shortening the tender cycle time of an order can often be a major differentiator in supply chain efficiency.

JDA Shipment Execution is a web-based communication platform for shippers and carriers to interact with each other in real-time and is a key part of our overall transportation planning and execution solution. JDA Shipment Execution creates a web connection through which a carrier can view the loads and bookings a shipper has tendered to them. Depending on the level of security access a shipper has configured, the carrier can respond to tender offers, set pickup and delivery appointments, communicate shipment status information and submit freight invoices. This web connection between shippers and carriers can serve as an efficient alternative to fax, telephone or electronic data interchange (EDI) tendering methods.

For the carrier, it provides one-stop access to a single online page where information about tender offers and shipments in process can be managed. For the shipper, this connection automates the task of updating JDA® Transportation Planning with carrier responses and shipment status information. When a carrier accepts or declines loads and bookings, sets appointments or creates a status message in JDA Shipment Execution, an event is created which is picked up and processed by JDA’s robust event management component, JDA® Monitor.
